Daddy's Birthday!

It was such a beautiful day last Saturday. A perfect day for the zoo. Dan and I had hoped to go to dinner and a movie, just the two of us, but when our babysitters were all gone on spring break, we decided to do a family thing...and what a great idea for a great day. We spent the morning having a great breakfast and making cupcakes. We went outside for a bit before naptime just so we could make the most out of the awsome weather. I had cabin fever bad and was so excited to get outside to play.
At lunchtime, we frosted some cupcakes and brought the candles out. I was absolutely floored when Josiah started to sing the "Happy Birthday Song". He sang "birthday, to you, birthday to you". Practically melted our hearts. I think that was the best gift Dan could have gotten from Josiah.

And then we were off to the Zoo!!!

Whoever put the playground right outside the zoo where the kids could see it, was crazy! For one: kids are tired when the are done walking the zoo and seeing all there is to see. Second: They cannot resist the playground and have a fit so that they can go play on it. Third: the kids are now even more tired and they refuse to leave the playground. Josiah had the biggest tantrum I have ever seen out of him. He had only taken a short nap and then was super tired!! Not a great combo. But we still had a great time!
After the playground and the zoo we were off to dinner at a Japanese restaraunt. Josiah actually ate the food we put in front of him, none of which he had seen before. I was very proud of him. On the other hand, I will not take him to an expensive restaraunt for quite some time, his food added quite a bit to the bill. Such is life and I know that beofre I know it, we will just have to deal with the fact that we can't bring a tub of dinner everywhere we go :)
